Have there ever been questions you had about your smile and possibly how enhancements could be made but didn’t know how to ask your dentist?
Dr. Homonnay enjoys hearing about how you visualize your smile. Is there anything that you notice about your smile that you would like to change? Is there something you notice but can’t really describe it?
Smile Design is a newer concept of evaluating a patients aesthetic dental concerns and correlating it to the entire face. The idea is that we first take time to sit and meet with the patient, find out their likes, dislike, visions and goals. Then we find ways to meet those. For example this could be enhancing someone’s teeth with veneers, but the design doesn’t end there. What if you are showing too much of your gums…could you increase the size of your teeth, could you use Botox to decrease hypermobility of your upper lip? Are orthodontics needed to assist in placing the teeth in the proper position prior to placing restorations. What if you are having joint or muscle pain, but would really like to have veneers; are there solutions we can provide to give you comfort and your goals at the same time?
In short, this is a comprehensive approach to treating the patient as a whole and not just their smile. We seek to incorporate all aspects of facial aesthetics and the facial musculature. This is no longer single tooth dentistry but it is an integrated approach to cosmetics and cosmetic dentistry.
